Lift, reshape and rejuvenate sagging breasts with precise technique and natural results. Personalised procedure according to the degree of ptosis in Madrid, Marbella and Gibraltar.
We restore the firmness and
shape of your breasts with elegance
Mastopexy is a surgical procedure designed to lift and improve the shape of sagging breasts. If you feel your figure has become less harmonious over time, after pregnancy, or due to natural changes, Dr. Marco Vricella, a cosmetic surgery specialist, will help you regain your self-confidence naturally and safely.
Also known as a breast lift, mastopexy treats breast ptosis: the descent of the nipple-areola complex below the inframammary crease and the loss of the breast’s natural projection and firmness. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss and ageing are the most common causes. In all these situations, the skin loses its elasticity and the glandular tissue redistributes towards the lower pole, creating a sagging breast that does not respond to any conservative treatment.
Dr. Marco Vricella has been performing breast lift surgery in Madrid, Marbella and Gibraltar for over two decades, adapting the technique —periareolar, vertical or inverted-T— to the exact degree of ptosis of each patient. The goal is a harmonious, natural and long-lasting result, with minimised scarring and proportions balanced with the rest of the silhouette.
Meet the DoctorThe right technique
for every degree of ptosis
The mastopexy technique depends on the severity of the condition. Typically, a periareolar incision is made to access and reshape the glandular structure. The constricted base is released, the areola is repositioned, and in many cases an implant is placed to restore volume and contour. In more severe cases, tissue expansion or fat grafting may be used as complementary techniques. Dr. Vricella selects the best combination following a complete morphological assessment.
Periareolar Mastopexy
Indicated for grade I (mild) ptosis. The incision is made only around the areola, following its border. It allows a moderate lift of the nipple-areola complex and can reduce the areolar diameter if needed. It produces the most discreet scar of all breast lift techniques.
Mild Ptosis · Minimal ScarVertical Mastopexy
Indicated for grade II (moderate) ptosis. Combines the periareolar incision with a vertical scar from the areola to the inframammary crease, giving a lollipop shape. It allows more complete remodelling of the breast tissue and a more pronounced lift than the periareolar technique alone.
Moderate Ptosis · Excellent ShapeInverted-T Technique
Indicated for grade III (severe) ptosis or when there is a large amount of excess skin. Incorporates the periareolar, vertical and a horizontal scar in the inframammary crease. It is the most comprehensive technique, offering the greatest lift and reshaping. Scars are concealed within the natural anatomical zones.
Severe Ptosis · Maximum Lift
Mastopexy with Implants and
Surgical Techniques
Mastopexy is a surgical procedure designed to lift and reshape sagging breasts. Over time, especially after pregnancy or breastfeeding, it’s common for breasts to lose firmness and sag. In Madrid, Dr. Vricella tailors each procedure by combining the most appropriate techniques — standalone, with implants, or with reduction — based on your individual case.
- Mastopexy alone — lifts and reshapes without altering volume; indicated when volume is satisfactory
- Mastopexy + augmentation — lifts the breast and adds volume with an implant; ideal after weight loss or breastfeeding
- Mastopexy + reduction — corrects ptosis while simultaneously reducing excess volume
- Day-case surgery under general anaesthesia, average duration 2 to 3 hours
- Scars strategically placed in low-visibility anatomical zones
A progressive and
predictable recovery
Recovery following a breast lift follows a similar course to that of breast augmentation. Most patients resume their daily activities within a few days, avoiding strenuous physical exertion. Wearing a post-surgical bra is recommended for one to two months, and regular follow-up visits are essential to monitor proper healing and long-term results.
- Days 1–3 — Rest with optional drainage; compression dressing; moderate, manageable discomfort
- Days 4–10 — Return to everyday activities; post-surgical support bra
- Weeks 2–3 — Suture removal; start of scar care
- Months 1–2 — Light exercise resumed; residual swelling decreasing
- Months 3–6 — Final result established; scars maturing
